The legacies of past conflicts still shape many regions of the world today: unexploded bombs and grenades – known as unexploded ordnance (UXO) – can be hidden in former military training areas, in former combat zones, under industrial plants or in residential areas. These unexploded devices often remain dangerous for decades and can detonate when subjected to vibrations.

Systematic removal of these hazards requires a multi-stage approach: starting with the evaluation of historical data such as maps and aerial photographs, through preliminary explosive ordnance detection and the recording of magnetic anomalies, to the controlled recovery or detonation of identified unexploded devices.

VALLON offers a versatile portfolio of detectors and systems that are optimally aligned with the various requirements of UXO detection – from hand-carried systems for small areas to borehole probing for ferromagnetic disturbances to vehicle-based multi-channel systems for very large areas. Active metal detectors

  • VMX10 large-loop metal detector: Coil sizes up to 2 x 2 m with OLED display. Highly efficient ground compensation through 14 delay levels for mineralised soils. Optionally with VMXV1 mobile carrier system.
  • VMXC1-3 UXO detector: Especially for large metallic objects with UXO firmware. Ergonomic design for mineralised soils and continuous use.

Magnetometer

  • VX1 magnetometer set: Modular system for surfaces, boreholes and underwater. Digital VSM4 probe, compatible with all VALLON multi-channel systems.
  • VXB2.1/VXB3.1 magnetometer set: Optimised for boreholes with different measuring ranges (VXB2.1: ±20,000 nT, VXB3.1: ±300,000 nT). Quick start-up with EVA4mobile.

Multi-channel systems

  • VXP3: Lightweight carbon fibre probe rack for 3-5 probes, foldable.
  • VXV: Rugged aluminium/GRP probe trolley for 3-8 probes.
  • VXVT: Trailer with adjustable probe spacing and sprung wheel set.

Data acquisition and evaluation

  • EVA4mobile: Android app for area and borehole data with GNSS navigation and project management.
  • EVA4ALL: Windows software for evaluation, georeferencing and documentation with individual reports.
